About us

After several years working in retail I decided I wanted to get back into a line of work I loved and could enjoy.

I had already been helping care for and walk dogs at a sanctuary for dogs in rescue and decided to look into becoming a dog walker full time.

I started dog walking full time in 2018 initially as a subcontractor for other  companies. I officially named and launched Solent Dog Walking in 2020 and eventually stepped away from all subcontracting work and concentrated on running as a sole operator. The business has grown and changed with me, I am very proud of what it has become and am excited to see what the future brings.

Meet our team

Alicia, known to most as Lissy is the sole owner and walker at Solent Dog Walking.

Lissy grew up with a passion for all animals big and small. Owning and caring for guinea pigs, working at a local riding stables learning all about day to day horse care and helping care for neighbours pets whilst they were away. Despite a lot of letters to Santa Lissy had to wait until her early 20s for her first dogs! Fostering a reactive Newfoundland and a very energetic collie was certainly a crash course in dog behaviour and training techniques but it sparked a desire to learn that has never left.

Lissy learnt a lot while working with rescue dogs many of which arrived with behavioural issues and a complete distrust of people. Over 3 years she helped walk and train many of these dogs to give them the best start in their new homes.

Lissy currently owns a Welsh pony called Tramp who she regularly describes as a big dog, they enjoy doing liberty training together and adding new tricks to Tramps skills.

Over the years Lissy has completed many courses in reading and understanding dog body language, understanding reactive dogs, Pet first aid and basic training. She is also currently a trainee instructor with a local dog training company with hopes to becoming a dog trainer in the future.
